EARS TO HEAR

EYES TO SEE

The God who gave us ears to hear

is able to make himself heard, as he chooses.

The God who gave us eyes to see

is able to reveal, as he chooses.

So why does God seem so distant?

Why do we have such trouble hearing his voice?

In that same hour he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will.  All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, or who the Father is except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him."

Luke 10:21-22

God remains hidden from our arrogance.

God reveals himself to the humble heart.

If it took wind, earthquake and fire to bring the prophet Elijah down to size, what will it take for us?

Then turning to the disciples he said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see what you see?  For I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it."

Luke 10:23-24

Unless we turn and become like children, we will never enter the kingdom of heaven.
